17h17 Saturday, ADT6 reports very drunk driver, weaving onto wrong side of road in harbour area green Rover CA594019. Watchcon calls SAPS a number of times, no response. ADT6 waits on corner Earl and Royal for SAPS. Numerous calls to ZH1 and ZH31 (SAPS) unanswered. No answer on telephone?
17h25 coms with SAPS who say no vehicle radios working.
17h28 ADT6 unable to wait for SAPS any longer and leaves. Drunk driver drives off. SAPS never turned up. Nothing further.
17h30 Urgent call for assistance from ADT1 at Shoprite. Fight in progress. Bravo male assaulting 15 year old whiskey male. Numerous calls to SAPS. No response on radio. Delta5 dispatched. 17h31 ADT1 left on response call.
17h34 Beachcomber reports Bravo male ran away. Beachcomber giving whiskey male a lift home to Empire Rd. No response from SAPS. Nothing further.
17h55 I visit CSC Hout Bay on behalf of CPF. Eight uniformed police hanging about charge office and two in carpark. Policeman at radio control desk in answer to question, “why are you off air?”, says they have no radio problems. It seems all radios have volume turned down too much. SAPS asked to do radio check with watchcon at 17h58. Communications good in both directions. Conclusion, CSC and vehicles failed to keep a good listening watch on HBNW channel 1. SAPS have six donated HBNW radios. Nothing further.

08h36 Intruder on premises, jumped fence, at X (Witheld) Caracal. Young Bravo, good looking wearing blue outfit. ADT6 Responded and reported all clear (Intruder gone) Nothing further
13h31 Blue and white Citi Golf prowling ATM’s CA 151483 Reported by Mainstream Security.

Variuos incidents
21/12/02 22h00 Friday, Following on the serious incident in Constantia/Doordrift where a senior ADT patrolman was shot whilst on routine street patrol and not responding to an alarm activation, Rob Dale, Regional GM of ADT, has suggested that his following words of caution be passed on to all Crime Watch members who are involved in patrolling: "We need to stress and re-emphasise to all patrollers that there is a risk to patrolling, and that they are to avoid contact or interactions at all costs." I must repeat again and patrollers must be reminded: 1) Patrollers are "eyes and ears" only; 2) They will observe and listen; 3) They will then report suspicious and untoward circumstances that might relate to crime or possible crime to the Controller who will in turn make contact with SAPS or the armed response officer in the area. 4) Any patroller who approaches a "suspicious" vehicle or person must be made to realise that they are a high risk environment which must be avoided.

Intruder, Edward St. caught by watch members after long chase. HBNW members waited a long time for SAPS assistance. A member spotted a SAPS vehicle at KFC shopping for food and hauled them out to attend!
