This may have been "Mountain Men" detaining a group moving toward IY. MM claim they were tracked from Tokai although no evidence has been presented showing they had been active in Tokai or that they were in fact actively 'tracked' on the night. MM appear to have driven to HB and staked out the path above Blue Valley Avenue. If the group were indeed returning from Tokai what bacame of the group that toured HB?.
During the night eight incidents were recorded "on air" excluding SAPS figures which are unknown. The incidents started in Stonybrook and progressed up the Valley toward Longkloof at the top of Valley Rd, then crossed the river into Overkloof and Bokkemanskloof with the last recorded incident being the intruder in the house above the pipetrack at 05h41. An hour later the "Mountain Men" and SAPS? were firing shots and detaining a group of Bravo males above Blue Valley Avenue on an established path which crosses BVA into the treeline above the pipetrack (Clay Cafe) This path is a known route. The timeline above indicates that the group detained may well have been the group that toured the valley and were returning to IY from Bokkemanskloof.
Since this arrest the pattern of break-ins and robberies that have plagued residents living on the mountain perimeter have stopped (11/05/09) indicating that the arrests have had an effect on the group that toured the Valley above directly or indirectly.
