Scrap Merchants Updated
Saturday timeframe:
11h48 Scrap collectors in Alexander Rd. 11h52 seen in Darling near a building site. 11h58 SAPS stop them below Bokkemanskloof. Released after questioning?
This the yellow Ford that has been touring HB over week ends. They are thought to have been in possession of stolen goods in the past. They were stopped by SAPS today, Sat 25th, and checked. Outcome unknown. The scaffolding on the back is expensive and in short supply in the WC and it is unlikely it was given to them. BM comments below that this lot had no scaffolding as pictured when they were seen shortly before the photo was taken. I have a back view clearly showing the scaffolding as they leave HB.

Friday. Another Beach Mugging
From VictorJeremy in response to a mugging this afternoon.
I’ve just got back from yet another fruitless sandblasting in the dunes. This afternoon’s beach incident must be the 3rd or 4th on the beach since we stopped the Visaf initiative and I think it’s a fair assumption that these attacks will continue.
In the last 2 incidents Mainstream security did not respond to radio calls. They are our best bet for catching these muggers. Earlier this week I stopped to chat to one of the mainstream guys and, even though he was at the hut overlooking the hide, he was completely unaware that we had been chasing people in that area for the past 30 mins.
0h06 Tarragona TD reports possible activity on the mountain perimeter above Hunters Way. Second night in a row. ADT respond. Nothing found

Black trousers now wearing lighter short sleeved golf shirt and white gloves. Partner is carrying a bag and may have one glove on. 03h46 Same two spotted on Well Way camera and short sleeves is now carrying the bag, maybe because it’s heavy?

05h49 Everyone stands down. Nothing further.
One of the two left distinctive “Waffle” footprints despite the rain. The prints were found in BV Close, on the path outside Disa Nursery and all along the Bokkemans fence line below the pipetrack from the ravine to X Candlewood and beyond. I never went closer to Northoaks as we had not been notified of that incident at the time but it’s likely the two had come along the fence line from there. The fence at X Candlewood had it’s razor wire topping neatly trimmed in one spot and there is a white glove hanging in the razors. The second crook’s shoes must have had smooth soles as his prints were very difficult to see.

From a Disa resident Friday evening:
As my wife and I were leaving our home for an evening out, I noticed a young bravo male just outside our house, who seemed to be sussing things out on our property. He moved off when he saw me, and went into the bushy area next to the Bokkemans stream. Unfortunately I did not have my radio with me, and therefore took no further action. Stupid me!!! (The guests in our cottage had also left 15 minutes earlier, followed later by my son in his car). Our property was therefore standing empty, and all the departing vehicles made it pretty obvious to any interested observer that this was probably the case.
However, on returning home that night, I did not notice until the next day that my hosepipe was missing from the bracket in my carport, so I only then decided to review my surveillance camera files.
I was pretty shocked to find that the bravo male I had seen earlier on Friday evening had waited about half an hour to make sure we were not coming straight back, and then entered our property through the gap where the XXXXXX enters our property.
He proceeded to slink around our outbuildings, helping himself to whatever took his fancy. Although he spent about 45 minutes on our property, he fortunately did not break into the house. He seemed pretty nervous slinking around, so obviously wasn’t sure if there was still anyone inside the house.
I have some pretty clear pictures of his activities, including the removal of our hosepipe. I guess we were pretty fortunate that he didn’t get away with a lot more.
The point that I am making is that, like most of us, I have obviously become rather complacent about the crime around us, and now realize that this incident could have been a lot worse. The criminals are still very much in our area and are watching our movements to and from our homes on a regular basis.
I will certainly be far more vigilant from now on, and will always make a point of reporting suspicious activities via my HBNW radio, the moment that I see anything.
