Saturday timeframe:
11h48 Scrap collectors in Alexander Rd. 11h52 seen in Darling near a building site. 11h58 SAPS stop them below Bokkemanskloof. Released after questioning?
This the yellow Ford that has been touring HB over week ends. They are thought to have been in possession of stolen goods in the past. They were stopped by SAPS today, Sat 25th, and checked. Outcome unknown. The scaffolding on the back is expensive and in short supply in the WC and it is unlikely it was given to them. BM comments below that this lot had no scaffolding as pictured when they were seen shortly before the photo was taken. I have a back view clearly showing the scaffolding as they leave HB.
Good morning Johann,
ReplyDeleteAs just discussed with AM on air, when I reported this vehicle yesterday to Watchcon it was standing infront of me in Alexander Rd with NO scaffolding on the loadbed. +/- 10 mins later the vehicle was sited in Darling Rd and finally stopped by SAPS on its way out from HB. What did seem odd to me was that the number plate looked fairly new compared to the rest of the bakkie. For a split second I thought it had just been "clipped on" but I could be wrong of course. Regards Mandy.
They were reported stopped at a building site in Northshore. I think it may have been the one on Sluysken? Anyway they must have picked up the scaffold in HB then and that means it was stolen. I'll ask NShore to tour their building sites tomorrow and enquire if scaffolding is missing.
ReplyDeletedid saps run the plate?
ReplyDeleteThurs 31 Jan - I am fairly sure i saw this vehicle exiting IY this morning +/- 9:30 am. I phoned Watchcon to advise as i didnt have my radio on me (cycling). I also saw the same vehicle broken down by the IY circle later in the day +/- 7:30pm. I may be wrong, but i dont think yellow Cortina bakkies are that common. However, the vehicle I saw had a CA plate (something like 4XX 481) not as CEM plate as in the pic. Note beach Mandy's comment on the plates above
ReplyDeletejust to close this one down, there is a second yellow cortina bakkie in Hout Bay. The one i saw (and i think reported by others) does not have the white sills, or pattern above the wheel arch. I must have missed that part of my life where yellow Cortina bakkies were in fashion.
